I have to admit that I was a little bit skeptical about even offering Valentine sessions. BUT, I was SO hooked on the backdrop that it just kind of snowballed from there. I had some of the most adorable and fun children to come and play with me & I LOVE how these turned out! It’s a little long – I tried to limit to one per child, but I just couldn’t

Oh, how I love this family. Miss Claire has cracked me up since I met her – such a distinct little spirit. Laugh, frown, scoot (well, now she’s fully walking). I was thoroughly looking forward to some antics for this session because I had such a good time photographing them last year. This year was everything I had hoped!
See what I mean by the many faces of Claire?!
family – Barbaree
I can’t begin to express the preciousness of this family to our family. I remember the first time I met Crystal – she looked doubtful and had a “I’m not sure I want to be here” look on her face. She reminded me of a girl I twirled with when I was younger, otherwise, I probably never would have worked up the courage to talk to her. I am SO glad that she came along to the meeting that night to see what this crazy new church thing was that was happening! Jason is guru of all things computer/tech at church (and my random questions that pop up). As I photographed Brent & Makaul during our session, I found myself thinking, “When did they grow up?” They were both so little when we met 5 years ago…and now they’re…not little. Makaul is growing and blossoming into a beautiful young lady and Brent has broken out of his shell with all kids of witty comments that make you pause, think, and then laugh. I am so thankful for this family in my life!
Keep in mind it was 33 degrees with a good north wind during this session. We were aiming for a session for my second week of class because last week it rained on our appointment day. On Thursday when I looked out, it was raining. By lunch it was clear, but that cold front proceeded through quickly, and we found ourselves with freezing temperatures. We were all determined to get it done, so we proceeded with just a few shivers and breaks inside.
First, we were super excited we got Buster in a picture. Buster’s the first family dog since Brent’s dog allergy is gone! And, I have to point out their shirts. This family LOVES music. Each shirt is a representation of their favorite band. Super cool, huh?
Makaul is quite the gifted dancer. I asked her if she would do some of her dancing for me while I took pictures. She’s currently taking a hip hop class, and I was impressed by her moves. I wish I could move like that!
While we were inside warming up a bit, Brent started being, well, Brent. I HAD to capture him in his upside down stance because it just made sense
What do I love about these? They are so REAL!

Love you Barbarees – and, next time, we’ll do it when it’s WARM!
