About Misti

I’ve loved cameras and pictures since I was old enough to know what a camera was. I know Mom and Dad allowed quite a few Polaroid shots of Candy, the dog, adorned in various necklaces. I know they also paid a lot of money to develop film of fuzzy flowers. I took tons of snapshots through my high school and college years, but I had already determined photography wasn’t for me because no matter how hard I tried, many of my photos were too dark, too light, or too fuzzy.

As motherhood does for so many of us, it ignited a new passion in me. We purchased our first digital camera (a whole 3.2 mp!) shortly after the birth of our daughter. I wanted to remember every detail of her tiny life. I started reading books about cameras and photography. I learned that there was SO much more than “point and shoot”!

After years of wanting a DSLR, I received my D200 in December of 2007. I suddenly realized that the digital part didn’t make photography any easier. As I sought advice from friends, read voraciously online, and practiced, I realized there was so much to each ‘genre’ of photography. It was overwhelming; I needed to take it one step at a time.

As I practiced with friends, I found that my love is in photographing newborns. I would say that newborns are my specialty. Now, as many of “my” newborns have grown in to beautiful, chubby babies, I adore photographing babies. And then, as I spent time with families during these baby & children sessions, I found I LOVE the family interaction & capturing the love of a family! I think the teacher in me brings out the excitement of capturing the senior year in the senior session. So, what do I capture? Life – newborn, baby, children, senior, and family! I look forward to capturing your memories.
