Newborn ~ Emily

August 31st, 2010

Miss Emily was such an adorable little model. I made the trip over to her house here in Granbury for her newborn pictures, and we set up “shop” on her back porch. I mean, really, in July, it’s plenty hot outside without having to turn a heater on inside, so Mom and Dad were game to allow for some outdoor time for Miss Emily. First we got to explore her room and some of the fun hats from family, a sweet hat and blanket combo from grandmother, and firefighter items that belonged to Daddy. Then, as we set up outside, I spotted more goodies in the form of freshly painted (but dry) furniture! She was such a dream…and she is SO loved by a big brother who wanted to be in on the action, too!

The hat was too cute already, and then to find the newly painted shelf was too much!

I’m telling you, brother was keeping his eye on us! Now whether he wanted to play or whether he was watching over little sister, I’ll let you decide ;)

Newborn ~ Mailey James

August 24th, 2010

About 4 years ago, maybe 5, they all run together, a ‘new’ teacher showed up on campus in the middle of the year. I was drawn to Lissa; whether it was her contagious smile and laughter, sweet spirit, or friendliness, who knows, but I just really liked her. We were separated by a lot of space, so there wasn’t much visiting time with one another. She was getting married soon, and then she returned to her former district. Fortunately, God brought her back to GHS, and we had the opportunity to grow a friendship; I’m so thankful for that!

I distinctly remember last October when her mommy stopped by my classroom at school, stood just outside the door, and moved her mouth to form what looked to be the words, “I’m pregnant!” while pointing toward her tummy. I had a student in my room at the time, so I hastily got up and sprinted to the door. “I’m pregnant!” she laughed. Lissa’s laugh is infectious, and I started laughing and celebrating with her. Then, my brain went straight to picture idea. If this was a boy, he was getting a newborn mohawk hat and even some tu pictures for daddy. If it was a girl, the most perfect picture of 3 little angels (Mailey James has two big sisters) in orange, pink, and lime frilly pettiskirts popped into my head. Miss Mailey James, you are precious and you are SO loved by your precious family.

I squeal over baby back wrinkles!

I wish I could get every mommy to agree to this. I know it’s hard to feel beautiful, but you ARE and so is the love that just oozes out!

Children ~ Grace & Davis

August 22nd, 2010

Grace and Davis take me back, oh, about 25 years. When I look at Grace, I see her awesome momma with whom a friendship first blossomed 25 years ago (or so). I distinctly remember the time we went to ‘ring and run’ with some friends (though, no doubt, we were older than Grace is to be into such mischief), I gracefully fell in the gravel, and she helped drag me back to her house where her mom doctored me up, telling me I should probably call my mom for stitches. I couldn’t bear the thought of missing out on the fun, and I still have the scar as a memory today :) .

So many things about Grace and Davis are exceptional. Not only is their mommy a precious friend and sister in Christ, but their Daddy serves our country in the Army. Yeah, they’re military brats, but there is not.one.thing that’s ‘bratty’ about them! Grace charmed me with her eagerness to smile and pose, and Davis charmed me with his movie knowledge.

Thank you, Sara, for allowing me to scout out a new location with your beautiful, delightful children. I love them (and you)!

Newborn ~ Anna

August 15th, 2010

Miss Anna waltzed in the world  (don’t you wish it was that easy?!) to meet her mom, dad and big brother, at 6 lbs 3 oz. When I spoke to Anna’s mom about photographing her precious newborn days, I was giddy with excitement. Honestly, I get super excited about every newborn session, but Miss Anna came at a time when the trend had been bouncing baby boys. Don’t get me wrong, I love my baby boys, but I like to go back and forth with my props, and it was time for some flowers and frills! Anna was the perfection of little girl frill and fun. Mom brought an adorable zebra hat with pink flower, so I got to get my girl fix! Last time I saw her, she was just as beautiful as in the first days. Thank you, Mom & Dad (and little big brother) for coming over and allowing me to capture the first images of sweet Anna.

There is something so precious and perfect about a new baby in Daddy’s hands. I think it reminds me of being in the hands of my heavenly Father.

This is Daddy’s baseball glove :)

Newborn ~ Faith

August 12th, 2010

Miss Faith is a sweet additional blessing to her family. Her mom has a special place in my heart because she was one of “our” youth at our church in Dallas a few years back (I’ll refrain from counting it up). As a matter of fact, she knew I was getting engaged before I did! We wrote letters of encouragement to each other when I was in college & she was in high school (does that make you start counting the years up?). It has been a delight to see Faith’s mommy as a woman of God through all of these years and now as she shares her faith with her children. Faith’s big brother was the first “newborn” I tried taking pictures of when he was about six weeks old. It was a precious time to renew a friendship with Mommy and begin a new season of our friendship as mothers seeking to love our children with God’s grace and love.

Meet beautiful Faith:

What do I love about this one? That’s the little animal her brother brought to her in the hospital :)

Maternity ~ Jennifer’s having a GIRL!

August 11th, 2010

The GIRL in this title is especially important because – are you ready for this – this girl is the FIRST GIRL IN 35 YEARS on Daddy’s side of the family. I know, I know, odds are 50/50 for each pregnancy, but 35 years? That says something. And if you think that bit of news didn’t spark some serious shopping for all things pink, well, you’d be completely right! So, the pink dress was the icing on the cake for this session.

This was also a fun maternity session as this amazing couple was in the process of heading back home (literally – to the neighborhood where they grew up) after a few years living and serving in the lives of Granbury, so we needed to document some of the Granbury landmarks to help them remember all of us! They are now settling in with their sweet baby girl back in their hometown, surrounded by family. We wish you many blessings!

Ah, I’d love to be a mind-reader here…

Baby ~ Drew {Granbury Child Photographer}

August 7th, 2010

How cute is this? No, really. Mr. Drew has been eating his Wheaties over the last nine months, and his mommies (two adorable big sisters & Mommy) and Daddy have been giving him lots of love, so of course he’s adorable and sweet. Drew’s family is such a special blessing to our family. Even more than our friendship that dates back to their wedding day, they shared the secret of Pine Cove Family Camp with us! Even after our slacker nature, they persisted, and we are SO thankful for them. We are thankful for their friendship and how God uses them in our lives!

Doesn’t he have the most fabulous baby blue eyes?

I know you just want to pinch these:

One Year ~ Cambree

July 28th, 2010

This sweet baby girl is quickly blossoming into a sweet little girl. Her sweet coos and grins have grown into belly laughs and heart melting smiles. Cambree is such a sweet cherub, and I knew when I got back from my time with Beth Jansen in OKC that she would be perfect for some bright color. Mom was on board (thanks Christy), so we were set! Our first location was, funny enough a wall just off of 51 where someone actually stopped to ask if I was okay as I unloaded a big chair from my back seat. Hey – I knew it was a great background, so it was worth it!

And then, Christy & Courtleigh were okay for me to say, “Hey, follow me to this blue wall I’ve seen from 377!”

And, just when she thought she was worn out – SUGAR!

One Year ~ Landon!

July 27th, 2010

Landon turned one! Where does time go? I mean, really, just yesterday he was so small and tiny (flashback here). This time he came walking in on his own! I know I’ve said it before, but I LOVE seeing my babies come back as they grow! We had some fun on the square in Granbury to catch him at his inquisitive one-year-old self, and then we came back here for a fun cake smash!

The inquisitiveness of a one year old is priceless:

I think I love this one because Mom is a softball coach, and it just looks like he’s catcher!

Six Months! ~ Aaron {Granbury & Glen Rose Baby Photographer}

July 20th, 2010

I looooove seeing my babies come back as they grow. It’s pretty unbelievable how fast time flies. It seems like I blink and in comes a handsome little fella with chubby legs, cute toes, and a smile to die for! Aaron was no exception to that. I think I might have startled him a little with my squeals of delight and hugs and claps. If you need to do a comparison, review his newborn session here, and then get your cheeks ready for some serious smiles!

I love his dinosaur. Mom said he chews/sucks on the tag all the time, so it seemed natural to capture him in action. Can’t you see the smile in his eyes behind that dino!

And, in case you can’t read his shirt, it says ‘Aaron heaven sent.’ Yes.he.is.
